Sandra Shaw, RL-M.S., CF-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist

Sandra Shaw is a Baton Rouge native who received her Bachelor of Arts (B.A) from the University of Alabama in 2021 and her Master of Science (M.S.) in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Alabama in 2023. Sandra is a Clinical Fellow and is working towards her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) through the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). 

 

Sandra has gained clinical experience working in a variety of settings, serving individuals ranging in age from toddlers to geriatrics. She has completed internships at theTuscaloosa County Public School System, the University of Alabama Speech and Hearing Clinic, the Baptist Memorial Hospital and the University of Alabama Autism Clinic. She has provided mentorship for autistic undergraduate students through the University of Alabama Autism College Transition Support (CATS) program. Sandra has provided speech-language therapy and evaluations for a variety of communication and swallowing/feeding disorders, including articulation and phonological disorders, expressive and receptive language disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), cognition, fluency/stuttering, reading and writing difficulties, social communication concerns, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). 

 

Sandra’s interest in speech-language pathology stems from her learning about her siblings’ experiences in therapy. In fact, her younger sister was a client at ABC just over 10 years ago! Sandra is passionate about advocating for her clients and teaching them to advocate for themselves. She believes that therapy should be client-centered and family-focused so that therapy sessions can be easily applied to everyday life. She holds special interest in the areas of Autism Spectrum Disorder, social communication, language disorders, and fluency. 

 

Outside of work, Sandra enjoys reading, yoga, playing games, and spending time with her family and her 2 cats.
