During Better Speech and Hearing Month, we'd like for you to get to know our SLPs a little better. ABC's owners, Lisa Suire and Sheran Benton, believe that, "Motivation comes from working on things we care about. It also comes from working with people we care about." (Sheryl Sandberg).
Lisa and Sheran started Access to Better Communication in June, 1996; it was just the two of them. They shared a passion for making a difference in the lives of children with communication disorders and their families (helping who they care about), serving the Baton Rouge community (working in the community they care about), and building their practice with other like minded SLPs (working with people they care about). Two of those special SLPs, Kelly Shay and Jessica Apple, invited Sheran and Lisa to an "Iron Tribe Challenge" at a new gym on Acadian four years ago. They've been working out together at the Iron Tribe ever since, with a commitment to maintaining a healthy lifestyle that allows them to keep on doing what they love! ABC has helped over 3,000 children in 26 years now, far exceeding what Lisa and Sheran thought possible in June 1996.
